SATs past papers

The last three years of key stage 2 SATs and the optional key stage 1 tests, with their mark schemes, straight from GOV.UK. And the real KS2 arithmetic papers to sit on screen, timed and marked.

Sit the KS2 arithmetic paper on screen

Paper 1: arithmetic, question for question, in our Arithmetic tool: a 30-minute countdown, marked out of 40 as the mark scheme does (long multiplication and long division are worth 2 marks), the answers to show, and a print-out with an answer page.

Key stage 2 (Year 6)

The tests sat in May each year. Each link opens the official GOV.UK page, where you can download the papers and mark schemes as PDFs.

Optional key stage 1 tests (Year 2)

Schools can choose to use these at the end of Year 2.

Phonics screening check (Year 1)

About these papers

The papers are published by the Standards and Testing Agency on GOV.UK, which keeps the last three years. Every collection is on the national curriculum assessments past test materials page.

We link to GOV.UK rather than keep our own copies, so you always get the official versions with their mark schemes. The English reading papers also include extracts from published books and photographs that belong to other people.

The on-screen arithmetic papers are typed out by PrimaryHub from the official papers, with the answers from the mark schemes. They contain material developed by the Standards and Testing Agency for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 national curriculum assessments, licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. PrimaryHub isn't connected with the Standards and Testing Agency or the Department for Education.
